Rail Projects
Aside from delivering multiple projects prior to JK Group forming, over the past 4 year JK Group has built its own portfolio, challenging ourselves in various areas within the rail industry, from lifting CMSD modules into place to navigating SSSI sites containing historic Ice Glaciers for a level crossing removal. Every project is considered unique and no value or time constraint will make that project any more significant when it comes to deliver it.
A £20m+ package of works split over 3 phases. The programme was built for grip stages 1-8 from tender through to close out. The initial difficulty behind this programme was the requirement to submit the price and programme for the full works prior to seeing an approved or even draft design.
Building a programme full of assumptions is difficult, luckily the expert team of design & build were able to demonstrate which equipment would suit each site based on what they knew. Three different types of equipment consisted of HSS Modules, Stand Alone LCS Units (external to the substation) and Internal HSS equipment (depending on substation capacity). The complexities behind this project consisted of logistical challenges such equipment deliveries to their bases (mainly CMSD Modules). With many sites along the same route multiple works were carried out simultaneously at different sites due to possession availability.
SIN119 stands for special inspection notice 119. It is the survey of signalling functional supply points sites to identify sites that require additional electrical safety provisions to prevent electric shocks to railway workers and members of the public. As part of Network Rail Sussex and Kent Region requirements to rectify non compliances, MchNicholas (now Kier) were tasked to undertake several phases of work to increase the capacity of over 1300 FSP's. Deliverables included design under G110 format. Over the project duration spanning 12 months MchNicholas (now Kier) carried out the following

-
600 Safe Works Packs Planned and Created
-
1600 Location Surveys Completed
-
230 Class II Installations
-
800 Earth Rod Improvements
-
500 Remedial Works
Ongoing since 2010, Network Rail has campaigned for the removal of a number of level crossings across the South East, mainly due to safety.

The Secretary of State granted the powers on 29 October 2020 to close or modify 16 level crossings across Cambridgeshire. Shortly afterward on 26 November 2020, did the same to close or modify nine level crossings across Suffolk. JK Group have been onboard since 2021 reviewing the bidders and reviewing the contractor programmes, JK Group has developed dashboards and trackers to integrate contractors milestones to be able to issue to senior management.

Aside from the above JK Group is also working on the closure of 19 sites across Essex which commence Dec 22 and is due to complete Aug 24
